Home owner had an extremely loud hum and vibrations coming from main shut off valve. Shut off is in a corner behind the water heater. There's only about 6" to get in there. I changed the valve but the humming continued at lower decibels. I added a 1" prv valve that took the noise down but the prv was now humming and vibrating. Went through every water source trying to isolate the cause of the humming. They have a 3 handle tub and shower in the master bath that the diverter cartridge is going bad when i got it to just the right place, everything would stop humming. Checked all faucets with the husband and no sounds. Vicki came home and asked me to show her where to but the diverter. When we tries the water there was humming again. It is much softer now and she is going to get parts to change the diverter. She will call me back if it still bothers her. Also installed pressure assist tank strap and pressure regulator on the supply line.
